Support our SPECIAL FUNDS

Project NUDL.

The early childhood workforce into a frenzy—35% of teachers turnover annually, resulting in a teacher shortage. At the same time, state and federal requirements are demanding high-quality teachers in order to access public funds. The early childhood workforce is the new wild west.

Developed by educators, with educators, and for educators, our approach to professional development uses small cohort sizes and one-on-one peer coaching with Master Teachers. It supports participants over 90 days in implementing new instructional skills and classroom best practices.

This fund helps support our Project NUDL, a social enterprise professional development training and research institute focused in putting the highest quality teachers in our classrooms while investing in their well-being.

FULL BELLIES, FULL MINDS.

Over 57,000 children in Franklin County live with food-insecurity, and the 43207 zip code is one of the worst (which for many of us is less than 20 minutes from our homes). That means as many as 1 in 5 kids in our community are unsure where their next meal comes from.

At South Side Early Learning we provide students with 2 freshly prepared nutritious meals and a snack each day because we know if a child is hungry, they cannot focus in the classroom.

This fund helps support our Full Bellies, Full Minds program in providing nutritious and delicious food to our students.

FAMILY Together FUND

By contributing to this fund, you are helping a South Side Early Learning family facing a difficult time.

For instance, if a family is struggling to pay their utility bills and asks the utility company for a plan to help, typically, that utility bill must be current before a plan can be put into place. This ends up being a lose-lose situation for a family that can barely make the payment, let alone pay it up to being current!

This fund would offer a one-time opportunity to assist a family so that their needs can be met and they can avoid having utilities turned off or avoiding a situation that might leave them homeless.

Donations will be used by the Family Service Center at South Side Early Learning to help families in need.

Playspace

At South Side Early Learning, we revolutionize early learning by leading partnerships, best practices, and performance that maximize a child’s first 2,000 days. Playspace allows our educators and community members to develop ways we can improve how children live, learn, and grow.

Teachers at SSEL may submit ideas to our Program Committee on innovating curriculum, classroom practice, workforce and professional development, and family engagement. We then work partners, thought leaders, and researchers to bring these ideas to life—right here at our school by piloting the project with our teachers.

The Playspace fund provides micro grants (up to $2,000) to support our teachers’ innovative ideas!
